Day 2 Adventures

Day 2

We were so excited to start the day today that most of us were up before the morning call. We had to take a little walk to Aroma Café just a block away.

Soon enough, we were off to our first destination of the day which was the Rockingham Regional Environmental Centre.
The signboard as seen from the roadside.

Everything about the centre was a reminder to save the environment. From the building to the backyard, most of the resources were made from recycled items or was being reused.

The centre was run by mostly volunteers. We learnt about creating compost and growing an organic garden. We also had the opportunity to taste some of the aboriginal vegetables grown. Then we were introduced to the stars of the centre -  Bobby and Bubbles, two local reptiles.

Meet Bubbles, the blue tongued skink.

Natalie meeting Rex, the local python.

The children are using their senses to learn about lavender.

We were given the opportunity to touch their outer covering. From this, we learnt the importance of taking care of our environment, as the other living things on earth would suffer if that was the case. Before we left the centre, we were given a chance to personalize our own recyclable bag. The creative juices started flowing and there were some very interesting artwork done by us.
Bryan, Jing Zhi and Syahmin are showing off their creative talents on the canvas bag.

Soon, we took our leave and were on our way to Freemantle. We had lunch at the famous Freemantle Cicerello’s Fish & Chips. While most of us had lunch on a boat, some lucky few had a memorable dining experience lunch by the pier. We had the seagulls for company. They had their beady eyes on our food. We had to be vigilant lest a seagull would swoop down and grab a fry or two.

Warning to all who eat fish and chips at Cicerellos.

Then we went to Fremantle Weekend market to SHOP! We were so excited to spend our Aussie dollars. Everyone back home can expect some souvenirs!

It was then back to the hotel in Perth for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Till the next time…..
